Weatherization Overview

Reducing home heating & cooling costs for low income, disabled & elderly citizens.

Heat or air conditioning seeps out your home and the power bill skyrockets out of control. It happens all the time and who has money to literally throw out the window? Individuals we’re here to help certainly don’t.

At NGCA, Inc., we feel low income, disabled and/or elderly citizens throughout our 10 county region should never have to face this. We understand the desire to make your home more energy-efficient, but not being able to afford it. Our Weatherization Services program is designed to help.

We work with eligible low-income clients to save money by saving energy. What does that mean? For some, it could mean adding insulation. For others, caulking and weather-stripping may be in order. Each case is different and many times, weatherization improvements result in better health and safety measures for the home owner. One thing we always check is the carbon-monoxide level in the home. Carbon-monoxide is a gas that has no color, odor or taste and can be produced by common home appliances, such as gas or oil furnaces, gas clothes dryers, gas ranges, gas water heaters and/or space heaters, fireplaces, charcoal grills, and wood burning stoves. We strive to help everyone, but priority is given to low-income elderly and disabled individuals.

Here are just a few areas we cover in an energy audit:

  • Attic insulation

  • Caulking

  • Weather-stripping

  • Wall insulation

  • Minor heating repairs
